The team at Starry Skies came to us for assistance in their website tracking set-up as well as commissioning a bespoke Google Analytics training course to help them have a better insight into their site data.


The Challenge

Starry Skies came to us for some training in using Google Analytics so that they could start to better understand their website users and how/where from people were purchasing tickets. During the sessions we found issues surrounding the link between their website and their third-party booking site. Without the correct cross domain tracking in place, the team could not attribute their ticket sales to any specific marketing activity or channel.

Our Solution

Using Google Tag Manager, we implemented full action and event tracking on the website in-line with the client’s goals and reporting needs. We then tackled the issue with the cross-domain tracking, working with their ticket company to ensure all the correct code was in place on their domain. One of the biggest problems to overcome here was the fact that the link through to the ticket website was embedded within an i-frame. We found that none of the standard solutions for cross domain tracking to work properly with this particular set-up and, as such, we developed our own bespoke code solution to ensure the tracking worked effectively.
